- Graham Ramsbottom is the Co-operative Group’s Director of the Rural Estate and Land Ventures
The Co-operative Society - Graham is the Co-operative Group’s Director of the Rural Estate and Land Ventures. One of the Country’s largest farmers, with land throughout the UK, Graham has responsibility for the Group’s land portfolio and the development of its rural asset base. He also heads the Group’s renewable development team and has been responsible for building a commercial windfarm on Group land in Cambridgeshire. Other schemes are now at various stages of development to meet the Group’s target to generate 15% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2012.
Graham is leading the team for the Group’s short-listed eco town proposal, a 15,000 house project on the edge of Leicester City. He is also leading a significant master-planning proposal for the long-term development of a large rural area following mineral extraction in the South West of England. The objective of the proposals is to champion sustainability in a rural context incorporating local and community food production, water based energy production and tourism conservation and leisure development.
Prior to joining the Co-operative Group, Graham was a partner with Strutt and Parker in Scotland where in addition to his estate management responsibilities, he developed the farming consultancy specialising in joint venture farming arrangements. This followed a short career commission in the Royal Navy.
